Today we headed back out to Opryland to try and check out the rest of the complex, it really is a huge setup out there! Tonight I played a gig for Catherine Britt at the Bluegrass Inn, and had a fantastic time, it was so much fun! I just sat in on guitar the whole night, it was a very late night, but so much fun!
Today is the International Artists Showcase that I was there to perform thanks to the wonderful sponsorship of Commercial Radio Australia. After a few meeting’s with publishing companies, I had my rehearsals with the band at the Stage on Broadway. The band was so good! All the members were from Pam Tillis's touring band, and were the nicest guys as well! The gig was so much fun, we each had to perform 20 minutes, and the show consisted of 6 people from all around the world. Also appearing was fellow Aussie Nick Kingswell.
After the performance I had an interview that I had to do, then was going to head off to catch a gig that I wanted to see. The Australian contingent were then asked to get back up and perform another song, which was great because it obviously meant that they liked what we had performed. Nick Kingswell and myself were joined by Catherine Britt, and performed a track by the Ranch, 'Somedays You Gotta' Dance', had so much fun!
After all was over at The Stage, I rushed over to catch the end of a gig by 'The Time Jumpers' who are an incredible swing band, and are totally the real deal! We were told about the gig by Paul and Pam as a "must do" while in Nashville! I also met their artist Kyle Wyley tonight, and had a good chance to hang out.
Also tonight we got back to the house to find all these songwriters and muso's hanging around at Catherine's jammin' and havin' a few beers. Also there was Aussie star Adam Harvey, and his manager Skip, another great chance to catch up!
There were some incredible writers there, one of which was a guy by the name of Randy Houser, who wrote 'Honkytonk Badonkadonk'! Great guy!! And an incredible singer!
Today I also caught up with another Aussie Tim Holland, from The Music Network, an important industry publication in Australia.. He was also staying over at Catherines.
