This morning I performed at the Riverside Stage as part of the Fanfair Festival. It was so great, and totally unexpected. I wasn’t originally meant to, but was offered a spot on the show after my performance at the International Artists Showcase.
Also performing was Catherine Britt, Nick Kingswell, Hot Apple Pie and The Roadhammers.
Tonight I went back to the Coliseum to watch Joe Nichols and Leanne Rimes, with Mark, Jay and some friends from Aristo media in Nashville!
It was great, but got rained out. The coolest thing was that no-body left, they all waited for over an hour till it all cleared. Then, because everybody was still there, they started drying off the stage and started up the show again.
Today I had a successful day writing at Murrah music, writing with songwriter and artist, Neal Coty, as well as Elisha Hoffman and John Henderson.
I left my guitar there and headed off to hang out with Mark up at the end of Music row. Mark was sitting having a beer with the guy he'd been writing with all day, Gary Hannon. It turns out that Gary co-wrote the Joe Nichol's song 'Tequila makes her clothes fall off'.
Tonight me and Jedd headed along to watch the 'Time Jumpers' gig, they are just so good!
Full day writing at Murrah.
Tonight I headed along to watch Mark O'shea who was playing a gig at The Basement, along with a couple other singer/songwriters.
After the show a small group of us, Mark O'shea, Jay Smith, Mark Moffatt and myself, headed out for food and a couple drinks, and completely by chance found ourselves sitting next to Steve Cropper! For those who don't know, Steve wrote such songs as 'Sitting on the Dock of the Bay', 'Midnight Hour' and 'Knock on Wood' and was also one of the members from the original 'Blues Brothers' from the movie (he was the guitar player), and from the three albums that the band recorded.
We talked to him for a while, introducing ourselves and someone told him that I was a guitar player, so as he was leaving he came back over and gave me his guitar pick, I thought that was pretty damn Kool! He is one of the nicest guys! And a legend!
For those who don't know, Mark Moffatt is an Australian Producer, that now lives over in Nashville, and produced Mark O'Shea's first album with the ABC, as well as working with Yothu Yindi and Slim Dusty.
